Changing Weight Through Kindness – and here’s Why

Hello dear one

How old were you when you started hating your body?

I was 10.

Cari at 10

Here’s me sneaking a 2nd helping (because my portions were monitored), hating how my tummy rolls feel folding over my pants (they felt HUGE to me) and already thinking about the sweets I’ll sneak later.

You might be thinking “What? She’s so little, how could she already think she was too fat?”

Take a look at photos of your younger self at an age where you remember not liking your body. You might see an equally  healthy child within a very ‘normal’ weight range too who deserved only love and joy, never disgust or hatred.

I went on in my teens to spend all my allowance (that wasn’t spent on candy) on fashion mags, pouring over images of what I thought “perfect girls” looked like and what I longed to be able to transform myself into.

We grew up in a culture that told us in a thousand ways that being smaller is better, that weighing and eating LESS makes us more loveable and worthy.

What needs to change?

It takes a significant amount of work to undo the damage and bring true care and kindness to our bodies.

Like you, I’ve spent WAY too much time and energy being distracted by disliking my natural body.

Have you seen this fantastic interview with Emma Thompson where she illustrates how tragic this waste of energy is? It’s so good!

I have come a very long way, but I still put in conscious mindful self-kindness work everyday to connect to my body as a vessel that deserves care, respect, GRACE and to be set free as often as possible.

The Self-Kindness Company is on a mission to bring
